Sporting a design that is different from typical harnesses, the Buckingham Deluxe Traverse Saddle has plenty of advantages over them. It uses a split tail system for more comfort and better positioning.

Taking advantage of this system, there are two sliding dee rings on the durable Nybuck webbing bridge that allow lateral movement of up to 16 inches. Although strong enough to take heavy loads, the bridge is light and compact, allowing an easier movement for the dee rings. This is adjusted at the front of the waist belt and on each leg strap.

The saddle’s 4-inch wide seat sling has a stiff batten to keep it stable. It is retained and supported by padded straps attached to the back of the waist belt. These, of course, can be adjusted for your maximum comfort. Quick-connect leg buckles also help keep the seat in place, while also allowing you to easily detach it if needed while on the ground.

The waist belt is made of an 8-inch wide nylon laminate, providing you with sufficient support for your back. Its extra padding makes it comfortable to wear even when it is weighed down by tools and equipment attached to it. And to help you keep dry, it is fitted with Drilex lining that wicks sweat and moisture away from your body.

Closed by a grommeted tongue buckle, you assured that the belt will keep the harness securely in place. It is equipped with two accessory loops and clips on each side and an additional three loops at the back so you can carry hands-free as much equipment as you need while you climb.

The Buckingham Deluxe Traverse Saddle comes in four sizes –small for waist sizes from 28 – 32″, medium for 32 – 36″, large for 36 – 40″, and extra large for 40 – 44″.

Instead of the more common tie-in and belay loops, the New Tribe Pro-Gear II Arborist Saddle has a tie-in point that is fixed at the front and which is closed with a pear screw link; and, in place of the belay loop, it uses a floating roller D on the leg loop crosspiece or strap bridge.

In order to be able to extricate yourself from the leg loops quickly and easily, they are fitted with quick release buckles. They are also adjustable to assure a comfortable yet secure fit. Adding further comfort is the soft cushioning of the leg pads that extend up to the inner thighs.

The belt strap is likewise padded with double-density foam to keep your waist and back comfortable and relaxed even while you are hanging from a tree branch. At the front section, the belt is 4 inches wide but it widens to 6 inches at the back. This helps distribute your weight over a wider area instead of concentrating it on a narrow strip. This, of course, helps substantially to prevent backaches.

The saddle is made of 1¾” nylon parachute webbing that is rated at 6,000 pounds. The D rings on both sides of the belt are made of forged steel and have a 2¾” inside diameter, which means it can carry a good number of loads. Indeed, it is rated at 5,000 pounds. The rescue loop at the back of the belt, on the other hand, has a 5,600 pound breaking strength.

A stainless steel adjuster buckle is incorporated with the cinch strap to help keep the belt snug, while the roller D fastened to the leg strap bridge has a roller to keep bridge movement smooth and easy. It is rated at 5,000 pounds.

The New Tribe Pro-Gear II Arborist Saddle is designed to carry a lot of equipment. Fastened to the belt are two brass boat snaps, an aluminum ring at the back, two gear loops, five carabiner loops, and four webbing slots. There are also additional two carabiner loops on the leg straps. Should you opt to attach the saddle to a shoulder harness, two accessory rings are provided.

Featuring the first sit harness with two floating bridges, the New Tribe Nikosi Arborist Saddle provides you with full freedom of movement. You can turn, twist, or extend your reach without getting hampered by the waist belt or leg loops. This is possible because Nikosi’s unique double floating bridge design allows the waist belt and leg loops to move unimpeded by each other. The upper bridge is connected to the waist belt by two forged steel O-rings, while two other rings and a strap attach it to the lower bridge connecting the leg loops.

In addition to maximum flexibility, the Nikosi also offers maximum comfort. The waist belt is generously padded to prevent straining your back even when all sorts of climbing gear are fastened to it. It is also fitted with extra wide leg pads that cushion your hamstrings and gluteal muscles. You can hang for hours sitting on the saddle without tingly toes or numb feet. Two additional D-rings on the side of the waist belt can be used to attach optional suspenders for a more even distribution of your weight.

Plenty of gear can be carried by the saddles as its waist belt provides plenty of rings, hoops, and loops for the purpose. It has one aluminum ring at the back, two snap hooks, two carabiner loops, two gear loops, and two attachment slots intended for gear bags.

The leg straps can be adjusted to provide a perfect fit on your legs. They incorporate quick-release buckles which make adjustment quick and easy. The riser straps attaching the leg loops and the belt are also adjustable. This helps in balancing your weight between the waist belt and the leg loops. Also, a rear rescue loop is mounted on the waist belt in case you are unable to continue climbing on your own.

In spite of all the padding, loops, rings, and buckles, the New Tribe Nikosi Arborist Saddle remains lightweight, weighing less than 5 lbs.

Before color TVs, video games, and computers became a necessity in virtually every home, children played tag, cops and robbers, and hide and seek running all over the place. They jumped into rivers, ran up hills, and climbed trees. Today, electronic gadgets have captured the attention of the children in front of which they spend hours. Given this, it is not surprising that plenty of our young have become fat and even obese. This need not happen to your children. You can lure them outdoors to engage in physical activities that can help them reclaim their health. One activity that they can enjoy is climbing trees either in your backyard or in the wilderness. Apart from its health benefits, exposing them at a young age to the beauty of nature may help them appreciate the importance of preserving our environment.

You do not want, however, to send your kids clambering up huge and tall trees without any protection. Today, there are plenty of protective equipment that can make tree climbing a very safe and secure activity. Ropes are used extensively along with safety harnesses. One such harness designed for kids is the New Tribe Kid’s Basic Saddle.

The saddle is designed for kids aged five years and up, with a maximum waist size of 26 inches and upper thigh of 19. It is made of a durable and strong nylon canvass that is abrasion-resistant, and which covers the foam padding of the waist belt. The large leg pads are teardrop-shaped, which makes sitting on them while suspended from a tree branch quite comfortable.

Closure hardware consists of a Galvanized Delta Screw Link. This can be upgraded to a Stainless Steel Delta as an option. Life-safety system is made of parachute webbing and a forged steel D ring. It has two accessory rings on the belt where your children can hook items they may want to bring along on their climb.

And while you are encouraging your children to climb, you might as well join them, and not only reminisce about your younger days but, perhaps more important, spend quality time with your children.

Climbing trees is something most of us have done as kids. Mostly, the kind of climbing we did was free solo climbing. We never cared for helmets, harnesses, or ropes. For boys who grew up watching John Wayne reruns on TV, these were sissy stuff, but not anymore. Considering the inherent danger in climbing trees without support, and the fact that plenty of boys have broken their bones and cut their skins from falls, it is no longer believed that climbing trees without personal safety devices is prudent. Often, a safety harness is considered the most important safety gear. Harnesses come in different variations but a full body harness is deemed the safest. An example of this is the Petzl C7100-B Navaho Bod Harness.

The C7100-B is a reliable gear that guarantees the safety and comfort of climbers with its durable construction and breathable materials. It has a semi-rigid waist belt for back support. It is also wide thus distributing the load on your back. Although it is wide, it is lined with perforated foam making it breathable. This keeps climbers cool even when climbing in hot weather.

Three loops that are enclosed in a protective sheath are securely fastened and distributed around the waist belt. These are intended to carry your ascenders, descenders, or carabiners as you climb up a tree.

When literally hanging from a tree, a ventral attachment point connecting the waist belt and the leg loops also helps evenly distribute weight between the two.

The shoulder straps are designed in a way that they do not chaff your neck. For ease of putting them on, they are attached to the directional connector at the front of the harness. When load is applied to the waist belt, some of it is transferred to the shoulder straps distributing it around the shoulder area, thus relieving your waist of extra weight. A buckle is installed at the rear section of the waist belt as an attachment point for a restraint lanyard.

Both the waist belt and the shoulder harness are fitted with self-locking DoubleBack buckles for increased safety.

An improved version of the earlier Butterfly model, the Komet Butterfly II Tree Saddle features an upgraded front anchor. It is fitted with a rope cover that allows the ring to glide more smoothly. The ring is made of aluminum thus helping to keep the weight of the harness down to a comfortable and less taxing level. The entire front anchor or bridge is removable and may be replaced in case of an accidental damage, or in the unlikely event that it is worn out due to usage.

Both the belt and leg strap buckles are also made of lightweight aluminum, which are sturdier than the plastic buckles often found on other harnesses. Release of these buckles is smooth and quick. An anti-sliding system is also incorporated into them.

The belt is equipped with a wide and thick pad that results in the distribution of your weight across its surface. This makes the saddle comfortable to wear. It also reduces the possibility of backaches after prolonged use.

On both sides of the belt are fold-away D-rings for lanyard positioning. At the back are three nylon gear loops and two small steel rings for your carabiners, ascenders, descenders, or other climbing gear.

The leg loops, like the front anchor, are removable and can be replaced with the optional batten seat transforming the saddle from a Butterfly to Dragonfly harness. A webbing strap is added to the leg straps for the attachment of additional tools.

The Komet Butterfly II Tree Saddle is available in two sizes –Size 1 for those with a waist size of 28 – 34 inches and leg measurements of 19 – 25 inches, and Size 2 for waist sizes from 34 – 40 with leg measurements of 24 – 30 inches.

Designed to be an extremely versatile saddle, the Petzl Gym Harness, in spite of is name, can be used far beyond the gym for mountaineering, ice climbing, and tree climbing. It is also meant to fit climbers of all sizes as it is fully adjustable. Given this adjustability, you can start off the day with a single layer of clothing, gradually adding more as the weather turns colder, and still have your Petzl fitting perfectly.

The Petzl Gym is a minimalist harness yet it is extremely strong and durable. The belt and the leg loops are made of tough nylon webbing, while the tie-in point consists of polyester reinforced with Dyneema guaranteeing a secure attachment and resistance to abrasion.

It is lightweight and compact making it suitable for both novice and seasoned climbers. It has neither haul nor gear loops. The pre-threaded double-back buckles on both the waist belt and leg loops enable quick yet safe and secure adjustment by simply pulling on the straps. The tie-in point is clearly labeled and identified to help the novice clip it on properly.

The tapered non-padded leg loops allow freedom of movement. They are color-coded also for the benefit of beginners. These are droppable and the elastic straps connecting them to the back of the waist belt are detachable.

The wide webbing of the both the waist belt and the leg loops help in distributing weight over a wide area thus assuring a comfortable wear.

The Petzl Gym Harness weighs approximately 13 ounces or less than 400 grams. It fits waists from 23 to 40 inches, and legs smaller than 26 inches.

The woven high-strength polyester mesh of the padding of the waist belt and leg loops of the Petzl Adjama Sit Harness, and the easy adjustability of the latter make it an all-season harness. The polyester wicks easily keeping you dry and comfortable. The legs loops are easily adjusted with their pre-threaded DoubleBack buckles to accommodate bulkier clothing when climbing in cold weather. Also, a polyethylene/EVA perforated closed cell foam on both waist belt and leg loops promotes breathability.

With a frame construction and breathable monofilament mesh, the harness distributes pressure evenly thus assuring support and comfort. On its exterior, the mesh aids in weight distribution and abrasion resistance. Webbing tape is used along both waist belt and leg loops for added strength. Proper closure is assured by DoubleBack buckles that are pre-threaded and are quickly adjusted with only a single pull.

The belay loop linking the waist belt and the leg loops is colored green. Against the backdrop of the glacier blue and gray of the Adjama harness, it is quickly indentified for a proper tie-in. Tie-in points are reinforced for increased durability. In order not to interfere in the belay are, the wait belt buckle is offset to the left.

There are four gear loops and Petlz Caritool slots on the waist belt for your climbing gear. These are flexible and are of low bulk to prevent them from getting in the way of a pack should you need to carry one. A trail line loop is also included.

The leg loops are droppable in case you need to answer nature’s call.

The Petzl Adjama Sit Harness is available in three sizes that fit waists with a girth starting from 27.5 to 39.5 inches. These three sizes weigh 420, 435, and 460 grams.

Versatility, safety, and comfort are primary considerations in the design and manufacture of Buckingham Glide Lite Tee-Climbing Saddle. It is of a modular construction allowing you to change worn parts easily instead of discarding the entire harness when only one section is no longer serviceable.

The Glide Lite weighs only 3.9 pounds, making it one of the lightest harnesses available in the market. Notwithstanding its light weight, it has a durable and heavy-duty construction.

The wide webbing of its back pad distributes weight over a larger surface of your back, thus helping reduce the possibility of back aches. It has as many as 12 loops, dee-rings, and snaps for your gear. It also has two slots for carabiners and a soft belay loop. Provisions for the attachment of a shoulder harness are also incorporated.

A suspension bridge with an aluminum o-ring provides improved lateral movement. It is attached to both the waist belt and the leg loops via o-rings and straps. Aluminum buckles on both the waist belt and leg loops can be released easily and quickly, which means that getting into or out of the saddle is a breeze. They also allow full adjustment for a truly comfortable fit and suspension even when wearing thick and padded clothes when climbing in cold weather.

Man began having back pains ever since he started walking upright. Among adults today, nine out of ten have complained of back pain at least once. To minimize the possibility of back aches when climbing trees, Buckingham Manufacturing designed the Ergovation Tree Climbing Saddle with ample back support.

The wide lumbar support is ergonomically designed with a thick closed-cell foam padding that contours to your lower back and pelvis. This assures optimal posture thus helping prevent back pains. If you have a doctor-prescribed therapeutic pad, whether hot or cold, you can even insert it into the lumbar support through a hidden opening. Its width is intended to distribute loads rather than concentrating them on a small area of your back and pelvis. To keep the padding clean and hygienic, it can be removed from the harness for washing.

The Ergovation is highly modular. As many as 22 of its parts are replaceable, which results in a fully customized gear. It is also extremely adjustable. Work positioning dee rings can be moved forward or backward. Buckle placement in the leg straps is also customizable. You can have them either inside or outside your thighs. A waist tensioner also improves fit as well as abdominal stability.

The saddle weighs 6 pounds and 3 ounces. It is available for waist sizes from 24 to 44 inches.
