Developed by Stephanie Kwolek for the DuPont Company in 1965, the para-aramid synthetic fiber Kevlar has been used for various applications including body armor, audio equipment, musical instruments, ropes, cables, and sports equipment to name a few. This is because of its extremely high tensile strength which is five times stronger than steel given the same weight.
Constructed out of Kevlar, the PMI Advantage II Helmet offers excellent head protection. If it can absorb the impact of bullets, it can definitely take on bumps and crashes into tree branches and trunks and even from falls.
Although the outer shell is tough, the headband and chin straps are soft and comfortable to wear. The headband is easily adjustable with a ratchet knob at the back of the head for a perfect fit so that it is neither too tight to be uncomfortable, nor too loose to be unstable. The chin strap is anchored on three points, one on both sides of the temple and another at the back of the head. This guarantees that it will not come off your head when the going gets tough.
A headlamp retainer that is compatible with all Black Diamond Headlamps is mounted at the front of the helmet. As for eye protection, the built-in support is intended for ESS goggles.
Designed in classic style, the PMI Advantage II Helmet has a beak that keeps rain out of your eyes or goggles. It fits heads with sizes from 56 to 62 cm, and is available in blue, orange, red, white, and fluorescent lime.
