Omega Pacific Jake Quik-Lok

Omega Pacific Jake Quik-Lok

The side-swing gate of the Omega Pacific Jake Quik-Lok causes it to stand out among other carabiners. This unique design results in a large gate opening, approximately 24 mm, that makes loading quicker and easier. The locking mechanism consists of a spring that automatically and effectively shuts the gate. This allows a single-handed operation.

The carabiner’s HMS design, which is also unique to Jake, properly positions the load into the center, that is, away from the nose. This keeps the rope from getting squeezed into the spine leading to smoother rappelling and belaying. Bent gate carabiners used in a quickdraw are assured of hanging straight. Also, the gate is hooded thus offering a smooth and even rope-bearing surface that minimizes rope abrasions and wear.

To protect the carabiner from corrosion and rust, it is wrapped in an anodized coating that resists flaking. Omega Pacific’s ISO Cold ForgeĀ® production process makes the Quik-Lok carabiner extraordinarily strong yet lightweight, premium features for climbers who may have to carry more than a few ‘biners.

The Quik-Lok weighs only 105 grams, yet it has a strength of 8 kilonewtons with the major axis open, and 23 when closed.
