The outer shell of the Scarab helmet is made of polycarbonate, a tough and durable yet lightweight plastic that is nearly unbreakable. It is molded into an inner shell that is made of polystyrene foam. Polystyrene foam, being composed of 90% air, is also lightweight. It has excellent insulation properties and is resistant to moisture.
With these two main components, the helmet weighs a mere 8.8 ounces. The inner lining also helps keep your head comfortable by keeping warm air out. And because it is moisture-resistant, it likewise helps in preventing the growth of mold and mildew.
Kong’s registered PERFIX adjustable system turns the Scarab into a one-size-fits-all helmet. Its suspension straps can be easily adjusted using a rear-mounted rotating dial to fit heads of different shapes and sizes. They can even be raised or lowered to achieve a perfect fit for your head.
Further keeping your head cool even in warm weather are the slits and grooves distributed over the helmet. These feature a Venturi design that increases the velocity of air as it passes through them.
