About

Climbing trees is something most men and women have done as children. Some boys did it to impress their peers and their crushes. Others probably had tree houses where they met with friends to play or to plot some sinister plan to conquer the world. Still others clambered up their backyard trees simply “because it is there”, as George Mallory put it when asked why he wanted to climb Mt. Everest.

Simply because you have grown into an adult does not mean you have to stop climbing trees. Today, tree climbing has turned into an organized recreational activity. Indeed, there are now schools that teach the intricate art of climbing all kinds and heights of trees with a load of modern equipment and gear. These schools welcome children from age 5 to 105 as long as they can master the sequencing skills necessary for climbing.

If you loved climbing trees as a kid, you can do so again. With all the protective and assistive gear available, you can probably even conquer taller trees that you ever did. And it’s good exercise too. If you have trees in your backyard, you can climb right there. Perhaps the best thing about it is that you can climb with your kids and spend quality time with them.

You will want to purchase some equipment though. Basic tree climbing gear consists of a helmet, saddle or safety harness, rope, daisy rope, throw bag and line, and carabiners. More advanced climbers will also want to have mechanical ascenders, hammocks, and other special types of ropes. These equipment are available at your local sports shops or online. There are also different brands, models, and designs to choose from.

This site will help you decide which of these brands and models to choose. Honest reviews and assessments of the different climbing gears are presented in a clear and concise manner. It is hoped that, after reading our reviews, you will be able to make an informed choice about which gear to purchase.
